TABLEAU

Southern Gothic, gritty confessional
 Summary

Unabridged, first-edition Tableau is the fifth book in a 15-book Southern Gothic-inspired saga, a sprawling novel sequence that mixes semi-autobiography and fiction. (The dynamic book series is meant to be read in sequential order, as the ongoing, overreaching story, character development, details, emotional impact, major plot points, and subplots build on each other, crisscrossing and threading together book by book.) Books are NOT standalone. Read Books 1-4 before starting Book 5.

The writing is evocative and descriptive, and Sam’s voice is distinct and absorbing, pulling the reader into the protagonist’s world. Vivid, hyper-visual, first-person, heavy with character dialogue and metaphor, Southern/Gothic-flavored humor, and blasts of rapid-fire internal monologue; genre-mix of dark romantic suspense, dark comedy, and psychological drama.
